History of Islam in India

India is home to many religion the reason is that India has been ruled by various rulers. Many Muslim rulers have ruled the country in early days which resulted in spreading of Islam in India. Islam was advocated by Prophet Muhammad during the beginning of seventh century. With the inception of Islam in Arabia countries it started spreading other parts of the world. In the 8th and 9th century Islam was spread in many parts of Asia. The history of Islam in India dates back to the early century when Arab military forces captured the Indus delta region in 711.

They established the Indo Muslim state and it became a major hub of Islam people. The state became popular for trade and commerce. At the end of tenth century many Islam was spread in many other parts of the country. The history of Islam in India started when Mahmud Ghazni plundering into North India between 997 and 1027. He captured many parts of India including Punjab. The conquest Punjab brought many ill consequences to the rest of India.

The Turko Muslim invasion in India led to the influence of Islam in India. After the introduction of Islam in India many significant changes came in the philosophical, cultural, religious, political, artistic and social aspects of India. In the thirteenth century, Shams-ud-Din Iletmish established a Turkic kingdom in Delhi, which helped the future sultans to make their influence in other parts of India. The Delhi Sultanate extended its influence to Bengal and south of Deccan. Many flux were experienced in the Delhi Sultanate. These things gave a boost to Islam in India. Both the sharia and Quran which are the Islamic law of book helped to spread Islamic administration on Hindu rulers. But these things made only a little progress. The history of Islam was very strong in India which is reflected by many architectural monuments built by the Islamic rulers. India is home to numerous Islamic monuments many of the monuments and historical sites of Islam are now the popular tourist attractions of India.

Sufis who are also called the Islamic mystics played a vital role in spreading Islam in India. The reason why Islam spread so rapidly in India is that many practices and beliefs of Islam were similar to Hindu ritual. The irregular approach of Islam helped the Hindus to adapt the rituals of Islam. This was the beginning of sufi movement. The sufi movement started rapidly spreading even in the Deccan part of India. Islamic traditions were widely accepted in many parts of India and Asia. Sufi orders became very important in Indian administration. Now one must have got fair idea of the history of Islam in India. The art and architecture also felt a great influence of Islam. In India one can find many mosques and forts built in Islamic style. One of the interesting features of Islamic architecture was the style of dome. Although the concept of dome was not invented by Muslims but still it reflects the cultures of Islam.
