|
Indo-China History dates back to the year 1962 when there was a war regarding the encroaching of the spaces in the Indian territory by the Chinese army. Earlier relations with China were cordial with the trade routes being revived and free trade being allowed in order to uplift the economy of the country and at the same time maintain a peaceful relation. The trade route to China was a very old discovered by noted travelers and traders. The path was in between the Himalayan range. The trade route from India to China was such that the path was almost rough with rocky terrain.

However this path was preferred as it saved much time compared to other routes through the inland ways. Indo-China history was etched with much tension and conflict after the encroachment. In the history of Indo-China, we can see that the disputed area was a small region that in India is the Arunachal Pradesh and the Chinese call it the South Tibet.
The war started on October 10 in the year 1962. The war opened the eyes to the fact that the military and the political system of the country lacked conviction and needed complete reorganization. There were heavy casualties on both the sides as war in that region was very difficult due to the harsh weather conditions. The high altitudes only made the matters worse. The Chinese had more advantage over India as they were the ones who had captured the strategic locations. This gave them advantage as it helped them to defeat the Indian army. The Indo-China history reflects the bravery that the Indian soldiers showed during the war. The McMohan Line was the most disputed area as it belonged to the Indian Army. And the Chinese troupe began their assault at that place. The Chinese declared ceasefire after capturing of the area.
The Indo-China history sees massive reorganization and restructuring of the military in all sectors. It showed how the military was lacking in providing ample security. There was new kind of trainings and recruitments of the army. There were new pickets and border security measures. The then Prime Minister of India was Jawarharlal Nehru who ordered that the military should be completely revamped in order to make the country strong defense wise. New strategies and arrangement of troupes were ordered so that the defense of the country was not threatened again. Now there are ample security measures throughout the borders especially the zones where there is possibility of trouble to break out. The Indo-China borders are now well demarcated with military posts and border security force.
In the history of Indo-China, the diplomatic relations between the two countries have gradually improved. The trouble that led to the war started after India interfered with the Tibetan affairs as China had was governing the Tibetan affairs. China still governs many of the Tibetan territories. This has caused major concerns about the safety and security of the borders of India. The borders now are constantly patrolled in order to be on the safe side and any kind of disturbance are monitored immediately.
